Quality, Health and Safety

SGB-Cape pursues rigorously high standards in order to ensure continuous quality improvement, and to improve the safety and health of our employees, while protecting the environment.

The SGB-Cape quality system complies with ISO 9001:2015 requirements and is certified by DQS. Audits are conducted on an annual basis by internal as well as external auditors.

SGB-Cape has competent resources in quality control, coating and insulation inspection. The quality controllers are certified by SAQI with completion of the quality control certification. The paint and insulation inspectors are certified in NACE coating inspection and Icorr insulation inspection.

SGB-Cape is aligned with ISO 45001:2018 with about 22 branches fully graded 5 stars and NOSCAR status by NOSA. Some of our African branches are certified by DQS on ISO 45001:2018. We continue to receive outstanding audit results from our clients and statutory bodies such as the Department of Employment and Labour (DoEL). Our HSE management systems also enable us to be a registered Type 3 Asbestos Abatement Contractor by DoEL. We hold accreditations and membership with organisations such as IRATA, IWH, SAIOSH, and the Fire Protection Association of Southern Africa.

Year after year, we continue to win numerous Health, Safety, and Environment Awards such as the NOSCARS, SEIFSA, and other client awards.

We have ambitious and achievable goals of attaining our ZERO Harm goal. Through the “Committed to Excellent HSE Performance” programmes and initiatives, we are well on the route to achieving Zero Harm.
